WHO WE ARE

The UFZ is one of the world’s leading research centres in the field of environmental research, enjoying high social recognition. It demonstrates ways in which a sustainable use of our natural resource base is possible for the benefit of both mankind and the environment.

WHAT WE DO IN STACCATO

The UFZ staff is mainly responsible for coordination, management and governance within the project. Main aim of the management is to guarantee a high level of integration and collaboration among project partners. Besides the main task, i.e. creating the right atmosphere for collaboration, on the technical side management and coordination also includes the organization of the internal communication within the consortium as well as with compilation, synthesis and dissemination of main results of the project to interested parties. Core elements of the coordination and management structure are the STACCATO – PCC (Project Coordination Committee) and the Project Office (PO), both headed by the Project Coordinator with the PCC as main decision-making body.

Further, UFZ participants are involved in data collection and analyses from the field sites mainly focusing on soil-dwelling invertebrates and their role in the decomposition of plant materials to examine their potential as ecosystem engineers by regulating nutrient inputs.
